*NEW* Funding for National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) Certified Teacher Candidates

Please find attached a recent memo from State Superintendent of Education, Michael Sentance, regarding the availability of scholarships to help NBPTS Candidates cover the cost of component fees.  The document also contains an application that must be completed by scholarship applicants.  Please share this entire email and the attachment with teachers who are pursuing National Board Certification.

Applicants should read the application directions, requirements, and conditions VERY carefully.  Applications and supporting documentation must be RECEIVED by the JSU Inservice Education Center by close of business (4:30 p.m.) on February 28, 2017 at the address given below. We will email applicants to let them know that their application has been received.  No applications will be accepted after February 28, per the SDE.

At that point, all applications will be turned over to the Alabama State Department of Education for review by a specially selected committee.

The JSU Inservice Education Center is NOT responsible for determining which applicants will receive a scholarship.  All decisions regarding

scholarship recipients will be determined by the committee selected through the State Department of Education.  Any questions regarding the application process should be directed to Mrs. Debra G. Gosha via email at dgosha@alsde.edu.
